In case some of you may not know, Briana Webley is having a baby. She has been working at the coffee shop for almost 3 years and this will be the first "Coffee Traders baby." A lot of people know Briana from working at the coffee shop, some of you may not know her. We have decided to play a fun little game before she leaves for a bit.
We are having YOU guess the date/time of baby Emmas arrival.
The way it works:
Much like the Superbowl Squares, you can buy a time. The actual due date is October 26th. If your time wins, you split the total pot 50/50 with Briana. If she has the baby on the due date, then she keeps it all. Squares range from $2-$5. October 12th (two weeks prior to the due date) is the first square available for $2. October 21st the squares jump to $5 (that's the HOT ZONE) until October 31st. The last date available is two weeks after the due date, November 9th.
So basically it is a fun little game to possibly make some extra money if you are a good guesser :-)
Come on in and place a bet, they are filling up fast!

I stumbled across a blog this morning with a chart on how America takes their coffee. I decided to put this picture up and ask you the same questions.
Do you consume coffee in breakfast hours?
Do you brew a cup of coffee first thing in the morning?
Do you brew your coffee the same way every morning?
Cream or Sugar?
Do you take your coffee with milk or cream in it?
Do you take your coffee with sugar or some sort of sweetener?
Do you take your coffee black?
What would you give up?
Would you gain 10 pounds rather than give up coffee for life?
Would you give up your cell phone for a month rather than life without coffee for a month?
Would you go without a shower every morning rather than give up coffee?

Using the pour over coffee method is a very easy and fast way to get very fresh coffee. Below I will show you the steps I took to make some excellent coffee.
Grind about 5 tablespoons of coffee for a 16 oz mug.
The grind should be about as fine as table salt.
Place filter inside the dripper and
place it on top of your mug
(we have a handmade tower we use)
and pour coffee grounds inside filter
Fill water pitcher with boiling hot water
Pour enough water to saturate all the grounds
and let it bloom for about 30 seconds
Continue pouring water evenly in a circular motion over the grounds. It takes about 2 minutes for the mug to fill.
Take filter out and you have yourself a perfect and fresh cup of coffee!

I had somebody come up to me today and ask how they could get the most out of their caffeine intake. She said that she keeps drinking coffee and is still tired so I decided to look this up a bit and found some:
1) Take it in small doses
One of the best ways to get the very most out of the caffeine you consume is to take it in small doses. So instead of gulping down a large coffee, you should be drinking regular cups of coffee every hour as a starting point. Drinking too much at one time will just go to waste, there is only so much caffeine your brain can handle at one time.
2) Figure out how much your body can handle.
Everybody is different. Some people can drink a small cup and be good for the rest of the day and some may have to drink multiple cups to feel the effect. If you do not know how much your body can handle then test it out. Experiment with different amounts of caffeine, consuming it at different times throughout the morning, and at different intervals
3) Use grapefruit, sugar and grass fed fat.
Study shows that if you eat a small piece of grapefruit while drinking your coffee it helps the caffeine stay in your system longer. Grapefruit has a compound called narangin that helps slow the clearance of
caffeine (and toxins) from your system.
Small doses of sugar, like a teaspoon in your coffee, can increase your performance. Your brain soaks up the sugar and uses it for fuel.
High nutrient density and cognitive boosting effects of grass-fed butter and MCT oil increase the absorption of caffeine. When you drink coffee mixed with a healthy fat you get a much stronger effect.
Use these steps to get the most out of your caffeine every morning. Leave us some comments on if any of these worked for you!
Since fall is right around the corner, we just recently got all of our pumpkin spice coffee. That is not all though, we also got gingerbread coffee (my personal favorite). As you may know, every day we brew a flavored coffee so make sure you come in and try these.
Speaking of pumpkin, we do have our pumpkin torani syrup in and our pumpkin sauce in. I have not advertised any fall lattes yet as we are waiting for some specific syrups to come in but you are more than welcome to order anything pumpkin!
In other news, MERCHANDISE!
We just put in a ton of orders for new merchandise.
We just ordered t-shirts, travel mugs and bumper stickers.
The travel mugs are 16 oz. vacuum sealed and will be white with our logo on it in black. Since they are vacuum insulated, your coffee will stay fresh and hot longer!
The ordered two different kinds of t-shirts. One will have the words "I'm a caffiend" on the back of the shirt with our logo on the front pocket. The other one will have the words "I'm procaffeinating" on the back of the shirt with our logo on the front pocket. They will all be black shirts with white writing. I'm super excited for these to come!
These will all be available very soon so keep an eye and ear out!
